Project Details:
The works carried out under this contract involved the construction development works to facilitate the harvesting of peat.

The scope of works included the following:

    • Clearing and levelling of existing cutaway area to form 11 no. spread grounds;
    • Upgrading of 175m of existing gravel access
    • Provision of a new box culvert under the upgraded gravel access track;
    • Construction of new floated roads
    • Provision of 8 no. access points from the floated road within the extraction area to the proposed spread grounds
    • Cleaning and clearing of the existing facebank and deepening and extension of the facebank drain where required;
    • Provision of new drains within the spread grounds;
    • Retention and/or cleaning of some of the existing drains;
    • Construction of a silt and attenuation pond
    • Erection of new post and mesh fencing around the silt pond
